Youth Police Academy Application
The Cohasset Police Department seeks to provide innovative and effective outreach programs to the residents of Cohasset. The Youth Academy is designed with the intent to establish a positive relationship between the Police Department and Cohasset Youth. The 2017 Cohasset Police Youth Academy will host a one week program that will hold sessions five (5) days a week. The Academy will open at 8:30 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:00 p.m. Students will attend classroom sessions with lectures, role-plays and demonstrations by police officers in the areas of law, drug awareness and first responder skills. Field trips are also part of the curriculum. Transportation to and from the field trips will be provided. Students will be required to bring their own lunch and snack daily. Completed Applications may be submitted to the Director of Cohasset Recreation or they may be dropped off at Cohasset Police with attention to Officer Jay St.Ives. Upon acceptance into the program, each student will be notified of a 1 hour orientation tentatively scheduled for July 17th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to come with their Students. Students will receive their equipment (Shirts, Hat, Water Bottle) at this meeting. A general overview of the program will be presented and there will be time for Q/A.
